To enjoy the dazzling colours of this unique place, we suggest taking a trip out in the morning or the afternoon. The setting seems to be out of an American western, with the multi-coloured stratified layers ranging from eggshell to a striking copper red. This is the natural pigment of the soil enriched with iron oxide, which, because of its resistance to light and the elements, is used in painting, pottery, decoration and construction.
